EXPERIENCE:
Bobby Jack has over 34 years of Law Enforcement Experience. A Graduate of the Kentucky State Police Academy, Bobby Jack served 20 years with the Kentucky State Police and retired in 2004 as a Detective with the Special Investigations/Auto Theft Section. During his tenure with the Kentucky State Police, Bobby Jack worked at the Pikeville Post, the Ashland Post, and Governor’s Security Detail, serving for Governor Paul Patton. Bobby Jack finished his career in the Special Investigations/Auto Theft Section.
While working at the Ashland Post, principally assigned to Boyd County, Bobby Jack promoted the Safe Schools initiatives and was on the ground floor of the Kentucky State Police campaign for the war on drugs. Bobby Jack has 8 years of experience with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office of the 31st Judicial Circuit, serving as the Commonwealth Detective for that Circuit. In his position, he learned extensive skills for case preparation; including arrests only matter if the evidence is documented correctly to obtain a conviction. He began and participated in numerous Federal Investigations, which led to large investigations and longer sentences for some of the career criminals.

TRAINING RECEIVED:

Over 800 hours of training at the Kentucky State Police Academy, with additional college classes in Technical Writing and Constitutional Law. 24 College Credit hours earned for this academy and extra class attendance.

Attended at least 800 hours of annual updated training. Accident Reconstructionist Training. Worked on over 100 Fatal Accidents. Presented at least 10 of these accidents for Criminal Homicide charges.

Received training from the National Law Enforcement Academy for Child Abuse and Sexual Exploitation Investigations. Attended Crime Scene and Homicide Scene classes presented by the Southern Police Institute. These classes were well versed in Blood Spatter and obtaining evidence at the scene of a Homicide.

During his career, he has attended many hours of training updates on the problems presented to Law Enforcement, by the ever changing ways that criminals adapt to try and outwit the police.

Presented Trooper of the Year, Kentucky State Police, Post 14 for the year 1988.

Presented with a Citation from the Kentucky House of Representatives for service to the legislature during the 2000 and 2002 session of the Kentucky Legislature.

Chosen by peers to serve on the Trooper’s Advisory Board and was appointed to a committee to write and implement the Kentucky State Police Drug Testing Policy.

Chosen by peers to serve on the Board of the Kentucky State Police Legal Fund. This board was delegated with the decisions of when and how to pay for the legal defense of the members, who were all sworn officers of the Kentucky State Police.

Numerous letters of Commendation from Commissioners of the Kentucky State Police for participation and representation in agency events.

1973 Graduate of Boyd County High School.
Attended Eastern Kentucky University and Kentucky State University.

COMMUNITY/CHARITY WORK:
Supporting hospitals for crippled children, burn victims through the work of the El Hasa Shriners.
PERSONAL:
Born in Ashland, Kentucky in July, 1955 to Jack T. and Yvonne Adkins Woods. Bobby Jack is the oldest of 5 children all raised on England Hill/ Paddle Creek, Catlettsburg, Kentucky.
The siblings were proudly raised on Union Wages.
Bobby Jack is a former Manager of Summit Foodland. Part owner and Manager of Taco John’s.
Served on Governor Paul and First Lady Judy Patton’s Executive Security Detail.
Happily married to the Former Peggy Kennard/Maze Woods. Bobby Jack and Peggy are the parents of 4 children; James Maze, MD, Susie Cornwell, Laura Justice and Justin Woods. They are also the proud grandparents of 5 boys and 2 girls.
